2552. Frenchy and the Punk
Frenchy and the Punk is a folk punk steampunk cabaret band comprised of Samantha Stephenson and Scott Helland.
Originally named Scott Helland and the Traveling Band of Gypsy Nomads, then The Gypsy Nomads, they formed the group in 2005, soon after Samantha had jumped onstage while Scott was performing, grabbed a tambourine, and joined in along with the band. They changed the name once more in 2011 to better suit their sound, and also as a literal interpretation of who they are. Samantha was born in Lyon, France, and Scott has an extensive background in playing punk music.
Samantha writes the song's lyrics while Scott provides the music. They have described their inspirations as deriving from each other. Sometimes, Scott's music evokes a feeling for which Samantha creates the lyrics to match. Other times, Samantha has the words for which Scott finds the right music.
The duo has played at a number of steampunk and other conventions, solo performances in the US, and overseas in England, France, and Germany. Frenchy and the Punk's Music has featured on:
